Evan Evans Wines was established in 2020 by Jeremy Evan Evans, son of Evan, in Seppeltsfield, Barossa Valley.

We produce small batch, unconventional wine blends using minimal but technical winemaking processes. Each vintage we release a sub-regional red blend (Evan Evans Wines BAROSSA ROSSO) and an Eden Valley field blend (Evan Evans Wines BAROSSA BIANCO). The parcel selections and harvest dates are the two absolutes for every cuvee.

We live for resolute winemaking, and the thrill of chasing vinous complexity through blending, inoculation and deconstructive vinification. We are proudly part of the evolution of fresh and exciting new-wave wine styles emerging from a wine region borne of timeless fortifieds.

Evan Evans is a fermentation focused wine operation. The focus of our ongoing research are the wild and fascinating yeasts of the world’s vineyards, and their flavour-boosting enzymatic activity during fermentation of wine and beer. During the winter season, you’ll find us staring down a bright-field microscope or conducting micro-fermentation trials. In the Spring we capture wild yeasts from our region’s native flowers, and try to propagate them for use in wine making.

When harvest-time arrives we source the best grown grape parcels we can. We emphasise later-ripening Italian varietals, but we also collaborate with growers that deliver the highest quality Rhône and Alsatian varietals that the Barossa is famous for.

We have a close relationship with these growers, who prioritise organic methods of cultivation.

Our wines are deconstructively vinified and then blended. We process parcels of fruit and separate them for fermentation in micro-batches for the purpose of exploring the subtle effects of variation. We mix up the conditions in ferment temperatures, vessel materials, harvest dates, percentages of whole-bunch, time on skins, wild yeast species, timing of inoculations, and so on.

Thus, we arrive at an expansive portrayal of a single wine, broken down into different micro-batches of potential blending components.

The resulting blends are always unique, and distinctively Barossan. Each wine exhibits a true sense of place, curious human intervention and of regional diversity that both challenges the norm.
